Welcome to Charlie Naebeck Co
Updated About Me
Welcome to Charlie Naebeck Co.
As I quietly announced in my November newsletter, I am switching up CNP to Charlie Naebeck Co.
It is only fitting because I have my hands on many projects at any time. I would like to invite you all to explore several of my projects.
And the best part about this is that I have many things YOU can get involved in with your art, photography, podcasts, stories, writing, and more.
I have been a photographer for over 33 years. I have had the pleasure of working with some of the most amazing people, companies/brands and living in some of the top cities in the world, including Conde Nast, Live Nation, Vogue, Vogue IT, Columbia University, Pinner & Co, and many others.
While I have pulled out of the commercial realm of photography after leaving New York City in 2019, I continue to share the gift of photography with others through teaching.
I have students in over 42 different countries from my time at NYU, U of M, Photo Manhattan, my workshops, and now, my remote Zoom sessions and Udemy classes. I am proud of every one of my students over the years, and I will continue making photography lessons available remotely and in person.
To book classes or see my work past and present, please take a moment to visit http://www.charlienaebeck.com and then book a free 30-minute Zoom call to talk about YOUR photography with me and how I can help you at: https://calendly.com/cnpcall/30min.
The Share Dreams Co podcast project started recently when I was chatting with a long-term photography student.
She is over 70 years old and has dreamed of becoming a photographer simply because she loves it.
Her story inspired me, and I wanted to open a platform for others to share their stories.
When I started the podcast recently, I was thinking of what I wanted to be when I grew up writing here on Medium and working on my other podcast, “What Would Charlie Shoot?”
The honest answer, I wanted to be a rock star!
And this inspired me to ask if others have achieved their dreams and what YOU do now.
If you are interested in sharing your story, you can record a 20-minute interview and submit your mp3 file at https://sharedreams.co.
And you can listen to the new podcast as it gets started by visiting: https://anchor.fm/sharedreamsco.
This year I decided to pursue NFT photography after some of my photographic heroes, like Sebastiao Salgado and others, jumped aboard.
I thought I could undoubtedly sell my own work, but how cool would it be to open a full-fledged gallery to invite other artists and photographers into a collective as well.
Hence, I decided to start Ambient NFT Investments.
So far, there are three artists, and we are about to add our fourth.
If you are still getting familiar with NFT photography or how it works, I wrote a great article about it here.
And if you would like to be one of our artists or photographers in the gallery, please feel free to reach out to me directly, and I am happy to chat.
For those that know me, I love to cook!
And that was also a trait passed down from my Grandmother and my family, just like photography.
My Grandmother published a family cookbook in 1984 that included the family’s favorite recipes.
She was a visionary before her time, and she marketed the cookbook to our church, my school, and her Avon customers by using the audience she had already established.
My Mom and I had always talked of re-publishing the cookbook and expanding it to include many other recipes that have developed since 1984.
I took the lead in starting https://countryfamilyrecipes.com.
My entire family will be writing and sharing delicious recipes (some healthy and some traditional) in the coming months.
And the end game is to produce a cookbook in physical form as we raise funding, just as my Grandmother did in 1984.
If you are interested in following our journey, visit https://countryfamilyrecipes.com and hit that follow button. You can find CFR on Facebook or Instagram to follow when we begin posting.
This year, I also started a project called Extra Side Hustles. I explored different avenues for passive income and ways to make money online.
I will be writing and sharing more Extra Side Hustles in the coming months, so be sure to follow the page at https://extrasidehustles.com if you like great ways to earn passive income and extra money from home.
If you have been following me for a bit here on Medium, you have probably already seen me post about my What Would Charlie Shoot? Podcast where I share photography stories, special interviews, tips, and tricks.
If you still need to follow the show, visit https://whatwouldcharlieshootpodcast.com and add it to your favorite podcast app.
The show is syndicated worldwide on Spotify, Apple, Amazon, iHeartRadio, Stitcher, and many more.
Listen to a new episode every week!
HCO was founded when I moved back to Michigan from New York City in early 2020.
During the pandemic, I found myself with a lot of time on my hands, and I explored cleaning out my Grandpa’s old workshop on the family farm.
One thing led to the next, where I wanted to make a drawing table outdoors one day.
I found an old half-rotted table half-buried in the basement of the house, and I sawed off the legs to replace them and restore the tabletop.
For a year, I was inspired to restore other furniture. It gave me the idea to make some of my own pieces (thanks to the well-rounded program at the University of Michigan A&D, I already knew how to work with wood and projects with my Dad).
One day my Uncle dropped by with a chainsaw, and I asked him to remove some cedar branches from an overgrown tree.
He asked me what I planned to do with the wood after it was taken down.
I put 2 + 2 together to combine my love for light and photography with my newly discovered woodworking abilities to make lamps.
I sketched and designed all handmade lamps and started to post them on socials.
Many friends started asking where they could buy them, and I found myself in business.
I went on to explore knife making and table making in my newly converted shop, where HCO was born.
I am currently on the road visiting other family for a while. Still, I intend on re-opening HCO projects remotely in early 2023.

If you have ever seen the work of Duane Michals, where he combined photography and writing, that was my inspiration for starting this project.

The Future Photographers is a project that I started the journey on back in 2018 in New York City.
I had a group of teenage students from Australia to that I taught photography, and it got me thinking about the future generation of photographers.
I recently decided to revisit this idea and start a community for young photographers to learn photography, share their work in a safe environment, and get inspired.
I will be sharing more about this project in 2023.
If you are interested in your child learning photography in the meantime, please feel free to reach out to me directly at http://www.charlienaebeck.com. I am happy to set up lessons for them.
Have you ever thought of visiting Colombia, but you need help figuring out where to start to book your trip, retire, or become a digital nomad?
I found myself with this question in late 2021 when I met the love of my life, and we began visiting family in Colombia.
In a year, I learned important things like how to speak a lot more Spanish, how to deal with visas as a dual citizen, how to find an apartment, where to find local spots for things I needed for living and more.
My VisitingColombia.com project is designed to share helpful tips and tricks with travelers, digital nomads, ex-pats, and anyone that visits Colombia.
In late 2019, I found myself exiled from New York City.
I became very depressed and struggled with my mental health in many ways. I spent a lot of time making art and going through a recovery process to bounce back.
In 2020, I also founded 79 punks, a clothing company that raises awareness for mental health. We make t-shirts and wearable merchandise.
In the coming months, I will be sharing the re-opening of the 79 Punks shop online with some exciting new things.
Books and Music
And last but not least, I am very excited to announce that ALL of my books and music will be available everywhere. This includes Apple Books, Google Play, and Amazon Books for Kindle.
This includes my brand new e-book titled “How to Market on Social Media” (get it at the link for a discount before it goes live elsewhere), where I share all of my social media secrets of how I got 187k followers on Instagram, 10k on Youtube, and more.
And if that is not enough, I recorded a new song the last month called “Take Seven” that will be available where music is listened to and sold.
You can check out the single art here:
If you want to check out my original about me and learn more about my story, it is also here on Medium.
In the meantime, thanks for taking a moment to read about my Charlie Naebeck Co projects.

And if you take a moment to support any of my projects in any shape or form by sharing, purchasing things, or following me, I appreciate you all immensely. YOU are the reason that I am here doing what I love.
What do you do? Tell me about yourself in the comments, please.
