I notice things. I make things from them. Then I put them into the world to see what happens.

No clean categories

The medium
changes.

I don't experience creativity in clean categories. One idea can arrive as a sentence, a melody, an image, a conversation, a problem I want to solve, or simply a feeling I can't shake.

A photograph can become a song. A hard night can become a paragraph. A paragraph can become a film. A guitar riff can uncover a story I didn't know I was trying to tell. Code can turn an idea into something useful. A room full of strangers can become an experience none of us expected.

Sometimes I know the destination before I begin. Most of the time I don't. I follow the thing that has energy and let the medium change when the idea asks for something else.

I spent a long time thinking I was supposed to pick one thing and explain myself in a sentence people already understood. I stopped believing that.

The medium changes. Creating is the constant.

The work is connecting.

Right now I'm living inside a body of work about the in-between: the strange territory after one version of life ends and before the next one fully makes sense.

Some of it is becoming a book. Some of it is becoming an album. Some of it becomes a photograph, a short film, a riff, a paragraph, a conversation or an experiment I didn't know I needed to make.

The experiences are feeding the work, and the work is giving those experiences somewhere to go. It's a way to get the poison out, turn it into something useful, and connect with people carrying their own version of the same thing.

I don't need all of it to become the same thing. I need all of it to be honest enough to belong to the same world.

How the work gets made

There isn't one clean starting point. Sometimes a sentence becomes a song. Sometimes a photograph creates the sentence. Sometimes I build the visual first and discover what it means later. The work can move forward, backward, sideways or upside down. The process isn't a formula — it's following the energy until the idea tells me what it wants to become.

I've spent a lot of my life trying to figure out which box I belonged in.

Turns out I was asking the wrong question.

This isn't about being good at everything. It's about giving yourself permission to follow what feels alive and what lights you on fire.

I don't want an approved medium. I don't want an approved version of myself. I just want to be me and see what happens when I stop asking permission to become whatever comes next.

The In-Between

Becoming is part of the work.

Experimentation without honesty eventually becomes a gimmick. The reason I make any of this is because life keeps giving me things I don't know what else to do with.

I've spent years changing, losing things, starting again, questioning who the hell I am and realizing that maybe identity isn't something you finish.

Maybe the point isn't to find the final version of yourself. Maybe the point is to keep making the next one.

That's the territory I'm exploring in The In-Between, in the music, in these little films and in whatever comes after them.
